How do you define inspiration?

How do you define inspiration?

Inspiration n. 1 An idea: notion, hunch or whim. 2 A stimulant to creative action: stimulus, motivation, influence.

That’s the essence of the dictionary definition, and it’s safe to say that we all have had these types of experiences. Perhaps you felt as if an idea or thought came out of nowhere—like a bolt from the blue or an epiphany. Or maybe you were inspired by a kind word, a great book, a political speech or a pastor’s sermon.

Inspiration may come from anyone or anything. It may show up unexpectedly, or we may purposefully seek it out. Wherever we find these influences in our lives, one thing’s for certain—inspiration is the fuel for taking positive action and moving forward in a new direction.

As we welcome spring and the sense of rebirth and renewal the season brings, it’s the perfect time to share our inspirations, motivations and hope for the future. To lead our discussion, we turned to author, consultant and motivational speaker, Jess Weiner. Check out Jess’ video message below (as well as our Links We Love at right), and start thinking about the small steps you can take to lead a more inspired life.

So, tell us. Who or what inspires you? Where does your inspiration come from? How has it added purpose and meaning in your life? Please take a moment to tell us why you’re inspired. We’ve made it even easier to share by eliminating the registration step. Just enter your information, share your story and post a picture right from our homepage. Try it now!
